Labor or no labor...that's the question

Yesterday, at 37 weeks, I went to the hospital with contractions 4-5 minutes apart, intensifying and getting closer together. It started that morning with a big urge NOT to eat...that is VERY unusual for me!! In fact, all I ate all day long was a granola bar at 7:30am. I started having regular contractions around 9am (about 10 minutes apart) and by 2pm they had moved to 5 minutes apart. By 4pm they were getting much stronger and and staying 4-5 minutes apart so I called the doctor. Of course they said to go to the hospital...I even asked specifically if I needed to wait until they were closer together...Nope, just go to labor and delivery they said. By the time I got to the hospital (around 6pm) the contractions were pretty intense and 1-2 minutes apart. They checked and I was dilated to 3cm (I was half a cm 1 week ago). The contractions stayed that close together for the next 3 hours but no change in dilation. The 4th hour we were there, the contractions had changed to 3 minutes apart...still very regular but slowing a little. They gave me the option of going home to be more comfortable and I took that option. They said I would probably be back later that night...it's now 8am and I'm still at home with slight contractions but nothing major. Oh well....that's what I do I guess...go into labor and then abruptly stop. Maybe little Weston will join us today or tomorrow!!!
